CSONGVAY BLACKWOOD ceramics
Csongvay Blackwood as the name suggests is the combined creative expression of Csilla Csongvay and Matt Blackwood.
Their functional hand-built ceramic artworks reference the Brutalist architecture of Csilla's childhood in Romania and Matt's love of mid-century modern.
Their design process is based on the interplay of void and fill, movement from stillness, lightness from weight, and the tensions that exist between the curve and straight edge.
All their work is designed and made in their Melbourne studio. Together they have won various awards and been commissioned to create a range of visual forms for galleries and public spaces across Australia and overseas.
Matt and Csilla's work finds its way into the hands of ceramic collectors due to the extremely limited production they are able to process.
