Mystical Garden ~ Domenica Vavala
The garden is the landscape in this exhibition of watercolour drawings. Creatures, insects and plants are found in this not quite wild, but not quite synthetic place.
The garden is defined in the oxford dictionary as a piece of ground adjoining a house, in which grass, flowers, and shrubs may be grown.
However, the garden is a particular place and has a thousand meanings to a thousand people. The garden can be a thinking place and a dreaming place; it is simultaneously a place of work and a place of rest.
The works in this exhibition were painted in the studio that sits in my garden. The studio keeps the drying flowers, abandoned nest and fragile bird skulls that I have collected. The cat is my cat; the flowers were grown in my private thoughts.
All original works on paper and board
