Blackwing’s roots go back to the 1930’s when the 602 model was first introduced by Eberhard Faber.

The pencil with the unique rectangular eraser became synonymous with quality. When the brand was discontinued, fans began paying as much as $40 on eBay for a single Blackwing pencil.

Charles Berolzheimer, whose family’s roots in the pencil industry date back to the mid 19th century, used the company’s unique supply relationships to re-introduce Blackwing pencils in 2010 featuring genuine Californian incense-cedar and premium Japanese graphite. 

There are twelve individual steps in the making of each pencil. 

Blackwing promotes a culture that encourages and empowers creativity in all forms. A percentage of every Blackwing product sold benefits music and arts education.

Blackwing Vol. 223 ~ "all you can write is what you see. " this volume pay tribute to Woodie Guthrie's dreamlike vision of America, matching a ribbon of highway with a golden valley and a bright blue strip of endless skyway, capped off with a matte black ferrule and an earth-toned eraser in keeping with the dusty trails he traveled. On Feb. 23, 1940, Woody Guthrie made that note on the bottom of the page where he wrote the lyrics to the song that would become "This Land is Your Land", an iconic folk song that still resonates today. Blackwing's Volume 223 pays tribute to that legendary moment of American history, and Guthrie's enduring legacy as America's Dust Bowl poet laureate.

Blackwing Vol 6 ~ In 1912, French engineer Georges Claude installed the world’s first neon sign above a barbershop in Paris. His vibrant, tubular lights soon adorned the storefronts of small businesses around the world. Even today, neon lights up the windows of urban icons like restaurants, record stores and nightclubs. Volume 6, features a dazzling neon colour scheme. The high-contrast electric blue and vibrant red are offset by a glossy black ferrule, with a red eraser on the blue pencil, and a blue eraser on the red pencil. This special release celebrates those independent businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit. Each pencil features a black ferrule, black imprint, Blackwing's soft graphite core, and a contrasting neon eraser. The number 6 is a nod to the six Noble Gases which give neon lights their distinct colours.

Special Edition Blue/Orange ~ The Blackwing Palomino is the second entry into the Blackwing Eras series. It features our extra-firm graphite, along with a "Palomino orange" barrel, signature gold stripe, gold Blackwing Palomino imprint, gold ferrule, and white eraser inspired by the Palomino pencils that paved the way for the Blackwing revival.

602 Graphite writing pencils ~ much loved by writers and musicians, this pencil has a firmer lead than the Classic, designed for writing.
