Chloe Smith is a Melbourne based textiles artist working under the name of I Make Soft Food. Her soft sculptural works are concerned with elevating the mundane and finding truth and beauty in pasta shapes and ring pull cans; collecting, cataloguing and meticulously sewing her world in an effort to always sweat the small stuff.
Works in The Boroughs window are drawn from the rich food heritage in the Moreland area, the legacy of Post War migration that continues to influence food culture today.
She never went to art school but once applied for a position giving free sample dim-sims at Chadstone mall. She never received a callback.
Her work has been exhibited throughout Victoria.
